There could not be a better title for this album. “Teen Dream” launches the listener into a world of sweet surfer-rock melodies with dreamy guitar work and trademark vocals which, as always, find a way to be both soothing and haunting.
Beach House utilizes simplicity, yet adds layer upon layer which gives them their wide dreamy expanse of a sound. There is nothing musically complex about this album, but the use of layers and distortion make the album very enjoyable to listen to. “Norway” incorporates all of these aspects and supports the dream-like aura very strongly, making a very large impression on the album.
“Dream Pop” is one of the best ways to define the sound of this album. The vocals, though very poppy and melodic, actually have a quietly disturbing aspect, but with a quiet pulsing keyboard in the background, the listener is slowly guided through this teen dream.
So dreamy, so good
