Romantically great

In this amazingly strong and driving album, Los Campesinos! hits closer to the heart than ever. “Romance Is Boring” not only has an amazing sound with a perfect blend of classical and electronic sounds, but its depressing romantics definitely hit a place deep in the heart.

In a very interesting dynamic from previous albums, “Romance is Boring” includes an extremely large lineup of classical instruments into the mix: the signature glockenspiel, violin, piccolo, trombone, flute and double bass among others. There are 14 individuals listed in the credits of the album, one of the largest line-ups for a single album in some time.

Although they keep some of their punk-driven fast-tempo sound, they show evolution with delicately structured songs and every sound feels as though it needs to be there. This album is likely one of the best we will see this year.
