IU student arrested on multiple drug charges

On Monday, Bloomington Police Department officers discovered 45 hypodermic needles and traces of what is believed to be heroin in an IU student’s apartment.

A warrant was issued from Hamilton County for the arrest of an IU student for dealing a narcotic drug.

The student was arrested at Dunnhill Apartments.

Detective Brandon Lopossa was notified of the warrant by the Hamilton/Boone County Drug Task Force.

After arriving at the student's residence, officers saw a handgun on the counter.

Digital scales, three spoons with scorch marks and an unknown amount of marijuana were also found.

“Officers found two folded up pieces of tinfoil with what appeared to be heroin inside,” BPD Lt. David Drake said.

Officers also found a box containing “Quick Fix,” a urine like substance used to defeat drug tests.

The student faced preliminary charges of possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of syringes, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of marijuana.
