Tom Martz, president and CEO of the IU Alumni Association, has resigned. He will leave his position at the Alumni Association on February 28.
IU President Michael McRobbie named John Hobson, an IUAA senior vice president, as the organization’s interim president, IU Spokesman Larry MacIntyre said.
“President McRobbie will soon make an announcement as to how he will fill the vacant position,” MacIntyre said.
Martz has served IUAA since 2007. An internal staff announcement stated that under the Bloomington native, the Alumni Association developed a strategic plan for the Association’s future, which included assisting in the recruiting of high-quality students, increasing diversity on campus and fundraising of private gifts through the IU Foundation.
“The University is thankful for the leadership that Mr. Martz provided in transforming the IUAA during extremely difficult economic times,” McRobbie said in the announcement. “I am thankful that Mr. Martz accepted this challenge with no hesitancy. His honorable and dedicated service to his alma mater is commendable and the entire IU family is very grateful to him.”
