Indianapolis – The State Advisory Board of the Division of Professional Standards voted today to pass new teacher licensing regulations ensuring all new teachers are experts in the subjects they teach and allow professionals from other careers to enter education.
These new regulations – called the Rules for Educator Preparation and Accountability – hope to improve students by placing qualified teachers in classrooms. Gov. Mitch Daniels approved the new legislation.
“The single best way to have better prepared kids is to have better prepared teachers,” Daniels said.
