INDIANAPOLIS - Lawyers for the state and for an Indiana couple who parented a son by in vitro fertilization agree the genetic mother should be recognized as the child’s legal mom. The question the state appeals court heard Thursday is how that can be done under Indiana’s paternity statute, which a Porter County judge ruled applies only to men.

INDIANAPOLIS - Drug-maker Eli Lilly and Co. said Thursday it turned a fourth-quarter profit on higher-than-expected revenue, but a key new drug saw a sharp sales drop after its summer debut. The Indianapolis company reported double-digit sales growth for several established products, including its top-seller, the antipsychotic Zyprexa.

ROME - A fugitive American doctor accused of fraud and malpractice in Indiana will probably be extradited to the United States in the next few days, Italian officials said Thursday.
