“Have You Heard About the Morgans” is a romantic comedy with a lot of ups and downs, of which the downs surpass the ups quite a bit. The dry humor of Hugh Grant helped make me not hate myself for spending money to see this waste of a movie night. Sara Jessica Parker had her moments as well, but the sentimental stuff was too much for the duo.
“The Morgans” is about a man who slept with a woman, not his wife, while away on a business trip. The wife then kicks him out of their apartment and he spends a lot of money trying to buy his way back into her good graces. They have to move from New York City to Wyoming because they saw a murder and had to go into Witness-Protection.
Towards the end of “The Morgans” there was a heart wrenching scene where the leading lady and man see that the bad things in their lives aren’t enough to get between them, and then the whole town (who had become like family to the couple) saves their lives and everything is perfect.
This part was so over-the-top that I couldn’t decide on whether to laugh or try and block out the horribly overdone dialogue. It ruined the whole movie for me, even though there were moments of goodness.
This movie is one that is better to wait until it comes out for rental, because it really isn’t worth the seven or more dollars theaters charge.
Wait to see the Morgans
