HJR1 was passed by the House Ways and Means Committee. The
passage of HJR1 would guarantee permanent protection of Indiana residents from
higher property taxes. The bill, which would put property tax caps in the
Indiana Constitution, has passed Ways and Means Committee.
Governor Mitch Daniels showed his support for the bill and a statement encouraging the whole House to support the bill.
“Heartfelt thanks to Representative Crawford and the entire committee for trusting the people of Indiana with this decision. Here’s hoping the measure will be considered by the entire House and they will likewise give Hoosiers the opportunity to make this important choice.”
