IU Office of Sustainability to plan to make IMU a greener place

Faculty, staff, students and experts will share ideas today and Thursday

The IU Office of Sustainability is working on a plan to make the Indiana Memorial Union more environmentally sound.

Environmental experts will talk today and Thursday about sustainability, according to an IU press release.

The “Greening of the IMU,” will bring together, in a closed meeting, IU students, faculty and staff with national experts in the field of green building, according to the release.

The two-day planning process will focus on ideas for more efficient energy use at the IMU.

According to the release, the featured speakers will be IU’s Director of Sustainability Bill Brown; IU Provost Karen Hanson; IU Senior Associate Architect Bob Richardson; IMU Executive Director Bruce Jacobs; IU Vice President for Capital Projects and Facilities Tom Morrison and others.

The event is funded by a $50,000 gift from the Duke Energy Foundation.
