Palin signs new book at third tour stop in Noblesville

Goin' Roooogue!

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — Chants of “Sarah” were the only sounds to be heard Thursday as fans of Sarah Palin stood in the rain awaiting her arrival.

“I wrote my book dedicated to good, hardworking, patriotic Americans like yourselves,” Palin said as she addressed her fans.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate and former Alaska governor visited the Borders Bookstore in Noblesville, Ind. as the third stop on her national tour to greet fans and sign copies of her book “Going Rogue: An American Life”.

Although scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Thursday, fans were lining up a day in advanced. Jessica Daugherty said she was the first to arrive Wednesday evening at 8 p.m.

“They wouldn’t allow us to wait in line so we had to stay in our cars,” Daugherty said.

Starting at 9 a.m. Thursday, 1,000 wrist bands were given out to the first people in line with proof of purchasing Palin’s book. The wrist bands allowed fans to have two copies of Palin’s book signed by Palin herself. Daugherty said she was finally allowed to stand in line at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

Lynda Berkebile also said she arrived to stand in line at the same time. She said once they started handing out the bands at 9 a.m. it only took about 15 minutes for her to receive her wristband.

Wristbands were labeled with letters B through U. Groups were then called in alphabetical order.

Kristin Patras , a freshman at Purdue, was one of the first in line to meet Palin.

“I’m a huge supporter of Gov. Palin,” Porters said. “She’s the only politician I fully support.”

Porter said she loved Palin because she is a good role model and because she is smart and honest.

Terri Nobel said she was nervous and cold but was excited to meet Palin because she admires her Christian values.

Palin’s “Going Rogue” bus pulled up at about 5:30 p.m. to a sea of cheering fans. Palin addressed the excited crowed before entering the bookstore.

“It’s really good to be back in Hoosier territory,” Palin said.

She ended her speech by thanking her fans for coming out in the rain to see her. She said she was excited that her fans were going to get the chance to read her words unfiltered.

Security began to let fans in early at about 5:45 p.m.  Soon after, the first people that had their books signed started to exit the building.

Daugherty was again the first in line and the first to exit with two signed copies of Palin’s book. After waiting 22 hours to meet Palin, Daugherty said Palin was just as nice and genuine as she is on TV. She said she told Palin how good the book was. Daugherty said she read the entire book while waiting in line all night.

“The book was well put together and really showed the behind the scenes of the election,” she said.

Patras said it was worth the wait in line to get to meet Palin. She said Palin was very friendly and was exactly what she imagined.

William Ellis, a Bloomington resident, brought his two kids to meet Palin. Ellis said he really respects how hard she works and supports her because she is very clear about what she believes.

Ellis’ daughter, Katherine Ellis, said she was very excited to not only meet Sarah Palin, but her first politician.

“It was an honor to meet her,” she said.
