Make the day more special with a game of Butterball

We promise grandma won't break her hip

Raw turkey

After you’ve worked your way through Grandma’s assortment of Thanksgiving confections, you might want to take that extra turkey in the refrigerator and gear up for what’s sure to be a memorable game of “Butterball.”

The game, which may seem reminiscent of football, has one goal: Get the turkey to the end-zone and score a touchdown. Team up with that favorite uncle, situate yourself across from that annoying cousin and prepare yourself for some turkey gridiron. Why watch football when you could put those well-earned calories to use in an epic game of Butterball?

After a few hours of Butterball, however, you’re bound to get tired. I mean, how long or far can grandma go while holding a frozen turkey in the one hand and her walker in the other?

Sooner or later, a less intense form of entertainment will have to be pursued. Why not challenge that overly complacent cousin of yours to a game of nog-pong, the holiday and kid-friendly version of beer-pong? Just let those not so subtle familial alliances and enmities reveal themselves as teams are chosen and opponents are challenged.

Watch as pompous Uncle Ned, much to his chagrin, throws back one or two glasses of eggnog, and marvel as normally docile Aunt Polly taunts that sister of hers she’s always wanted to humiliate.

Finally, cozy up next to that one special someone by the fireplace and reminisce about the best Thanksgiving ever. And to think, you just wanted to watch football.
