I’ve heard people say that love is forever. I say that’s bullshit.
There’s only one thing that lasts forever. Sure, it might fade over time, but it sticks with you for life. When you look at it, you’re immediately sent back to the exact time it became part of you, clinging to you until death.
It is a constant reminder of everything you once cared about, believed in and stood for.
Love has nothing on tattoos.
Tattoos have long been a staple in our culture. They allow people to communicate themselves on one of the most personal levels imaginable. Your body can become a canvas for creative expression.
They bind together people who would never have anything in common had it not been for their tattoos. The sorority girl with the clover on her foot has something to share with the 50-year-old biker with full sleeves.
For me, a tattoo is a lifelong commitment you make with yourself – a commitment you should honor.
Still, there will be people, for various reasons, who decide they don’t want to have the Power Rangers tattooed on their back or the misspelled name of their ex on their chest.
If you fall into this group or are thinking of getting a tattoo, the company Freedom2 might have the answer to any future tattoo mistakes you make.
Freedom2 is, as its Web site states, “all about skin.” From cosmetics to sun care products, they make many different products dealing with our outermost layer.
It’s no surprise then that they have come up with a new formula for tattoo ink.
Before you get too excited about this ink, there are two things you should know. One: It still has to be applied with a needle, just like any regular tattoo. Two: It still lasts forever.
So what makes this ink special? It is that it is more easily removed than traditional tattoo ink.
Without getting too scientific, the company has found a way to make the pigments in the ink more reactive to laser treatment, meaning fewer laser treatments and less cost for you than you would have had if you were removing a normal tattoo.
There’s definitely a market for this product. About 25 percent of the 18-and-older population of our country has thought about getting a tattoo but were frightened by the permanence of it.
So maybe this product will take the tattoo world by storm – but I doubt it.
This ink might promise getting fewer laser treatments to remove a tattoo, but it still promises laser treatments. I think that will still scare away people who aren’t too sure about getting a tattoo.
As for me, I’ll stick to traditional ink. My tattoos are part of me. I don’t want them to be easily removed, no matter what my reason – let alone removed at all.
There are a few things for which I’ll go with the classic over the modern: cars, music and now tattoo ink.
Keep it for life
