Indiana wins bid for Disabled Water Ski National Championships

Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana Sports Program, the Indiana Water Ski Association and Hawthorn Lake Ski Club announced last week that they won a bid to have the 21st Disabled Water Ski National Championships and 2nd Pan Am Championships.

Water skiers from the U.S., Brazil, Mexico and Canada will compete in the event in August, according to a press release.

Athletes involved with the event have disabilities ranging from being  vision-impaired to having amputations, according to the release.

“This is a great competition and great family entertainment, and we are excited to be hosting it here in Central Indiana,” co-tournament director for the Indiana Water Ski Association Carl Truesdale said in the release . “These competitors are an inspiration to all and drive home the lesson that great things can be achieved by people who have the desire and discipline to excel.”

The event will be held at Hawthorn Lake and will last for three days.
