Freshman tennis player's run ends at ITA regional competition

Freshman Josh MacTaggart's great run came to an end Sunday at the Wilson/ITA Regional Championship.

MacTaggart, a freshman from the United Kingdom, advanced to the singles round of 8 before falling to freshman sensation Ryan Lipman of Vanderbilt 6-3, 6-2. Lipman knocked IU's Lachlan Ferguson out of the tournament on Saturday.

MacTaggart hung in early, but he struggled against Lipman's serve. Lipman won all nine games on his serve and frustrated the IU freshman with his shots down the line.

No other IU player advanced to Sunday.
