‘30 Rock’ no longer rock solid

30

Even though it just won an Emmy for Best Comedy Series, “30 Rock” was not at the top of its game for the third season.

It was ridiculously packed with big-name guest stars, and the political commentary felt watered-down. Still, it delivers some pretty solid laughs, especially during the first few episodes when Jack is trying to win his office back from a daft Kathy Geiss and Liz has a drug-induced plane conversation with Oprah.

And not all the guest stars were bad. Though she’s known for acting in dramas, Salma Hayek has a great sense of humor and has nailed the few comedic roles she’s been in. I also never, ever get sick of seeing Jon Hamm get some more screen time.

The audio commentary features main members of the regular cast – except Alec Baldwin – as well as guest stars Jon Hamm and Alan Alda. Other bonus features include an extended cut of Liz’s 1-900-OKFACE commercial and a “making of” for the finale, “Kidney Now!”
