Purdue plans tuition relief

Purdue University announced yesterday a plan to relieve tuition increases. Purdue will increase need-based aide this year and refund $250 of the $500 fee for students coming to school next year, according to the Associated Press.

The plan comes after IU and Purdue were pressure State Sen. Luke Kenley, a Noblesville Republican to cut tuition increases.

Kenly, head the state budget committeee, blocked approval for Purdue's and several of IU's building plans.

Purdue raised tuition 5 percent, with an added $500 next years fee for new students. IU raised tuition 4.6 percent this year, but announced will give in-state students with a B or better average $300.
