INDIANAPOLIS – A National Endowment for the Humanities grant will help the Center for the Study of Religion and American Culture at IU-Purdue University Indianapolis train high school teachers on the role of religion in American history and life.
IUPUI says 25 teachers will be selected to participate in a three-week institute in July aimed at providing cases that teachers can use to show the role of religion.
Project codirector Art Farnsley said it’s impossible to understand American culture without understanding religion’s social role.
The federal grant is worth about $145,000.
