The statistics for this year’s freshman class were announced today at a press conference led by IU President Michael McRobbie.
The average math and critical reading SAT score for freshmen increased by 29 points, according to an IU press release.
The class also had a 1 percent increase in the number of students who identify themselves as African-American, Hispanic, Asian-American or American Indian, according to an IU press release.
In addition, 35.6 percent of this year's freshmen were in the top 10 percent of their high-school class. There are also 87 National Merit Scholars in this year’s freshman class, which is a 37 percent increase from last year.
IU also set a record for overall enrollment with 41,756 students. Last year there were 40,354 students enrolled at IU.
