IU reports 2 probable cases of H1N1, expects more to surface

Two IU students have probable cases of H1N1, the University confirmed Thursday.

The students showed symptoms of the flu, fever and achiness, said IU spokesman Larry MacIntyre.

IU is assuming all students with the flu this time of year have the H1N1 virus and will not run tests to confirm the cases, he said.

MacIntyre also said he expects the number to rise as the semester continues.

“This is only the first week of classes,” he said. “And we expect there will be more cases as this progresses.”

Earlier this week Purdue officials said the school has 47 likely cases of the virus.
