The IU Police Department made 45 arrests from Aug. 26 to 30, up from the 43 arrests made during last year’s Welcome Week.
IUPD arrested three on driving under the influence charges, one on Tuesday and two on Wednesday, IUPD Sgt. Rebecca Schmuhl said.
Most of the arrests IUPD made were alcohol-related, she said.
This year, the blood alcohol contents of those arrested were higher than previous years, Schmuhl said.
The alcohol level in the blood depends on the number of drinks and body weight of a person.
IUPD officers came across several people unresponsive upon officers’ arrival, Schmuhl said, including a person who was taken to the hospital with a BAC of .39.
