WASHINGTON, Ind. — State highway officials say crews will soon
begin surveying land in southwestern Indiana for the $3 billion
Interstate 69 extension project.
Contractors
will start surveying work as early as Monday in Daviess and Greene
counties, and their work will continue for the rest of the year.
The
State Department of Transportation says the crews will locate
buildings, trees, fences, driveways, utilities and property corners
along the project's proposed corridor.
Property owners will be notified of the work, in accordance with Indiana law.
State
officials said this summer that the cost of the 142-mile extension
between Indianapolis and Evansville has risen to $3.1 billion — well
above the 2003 cost estimate of $1.7 billion.
