WEST LAFAYETTE – Lafayette-area authorities are investigating whether a skull found in the Wabash River belongs to a man who has been missing since December.
Lafayette Police Capt. Bruce Biggs said mushroom hunters found the skull Wednesday near the West Lafayette wastewater treatment plant. He said a team with cadaver dogs searched the area Thursday but hasn’t found any more bones.
Police are investigating the possibility that the skull belongs to a Lafayette man who has been missing since possibly falling from a railroad trestle into the river in early December. Police have been searching for his body in and along the river since then.
