Support the IUSA Rape Crisis Fund by clicking the $3 donation box when you register for fall classes in the coming weeks and help stop sexual assault crisis services and prevention education funds from disappearing.
The fund benefits both Middle Way House’s Rape Crisis Center, which offers free 24-hour care and counseling for victims of sexual assault and sexual assault prevention education, and the student group RAISE, which works closely with the IU Health Center’s Sexual Assault Crisis Service to provide prevention programming on campus.
The Rape Crisis Fund supports crucial crisis and advocacy services that depend largely on donors to cover necessary operating costs. It’s in danger of being removed from the registration check-off list in the fall. Affected by a tumultuous history of software glitches which failed to offer the check-off box to large numbers of students, the fund weakened from $27,500 in 2002 to $3,153.25 in 2007 with a decline of $16,428 between 2002 and 2005 alone.
Last year, the fund brought in a little more than $1,000, falling almost $2,000 to its lowest point yet. In order to remain on the roster and help ensure crisis and prevention services continue to receive the support they need, the fund must raise at least $10,000, which can be achieved through a mere 3,334 individual student donations.
Please support Middle Way House’s and RAISE’s efforts to provide sexual assault crisis services for victims and awareness and prevention education for students.
Help stop sexual violence on campus. Check the box in support of the IUSA Rape Crisis Fund.
