Public forum tonight to discuss lengthening evening bus routes through "Hoosier Night Owl"

The IU Campus Bus Service and Bloomington Transit will have a public forum today to discuss a proposed new bus service that could expand hours of operation to 4 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.

The “Hoosier Night Owl” is a collaboration between the IU Campus Bus Service and Bloomington Transit, according to a press release from the IU Campus Bus Service.

The service would include the use of full-size transit buses on existing Campus Bus and Bloomington Transit routes.

The public forum from 8 to 10 p.m. today in Woodburn Hall Room 120 will deal with the plan, as will the next Student Transportation Board meeting at 8 p.m. April 20 in the Indiana Memorial Union Charter Room.

The current midnight special runs four mini busses on three routes, according to the press release.

Services on A, B and E routes will be restored if the plan is approved. The routes had been cut in fall 2008 because of funding issues.
