Convicted killer, 52, receives life in prison

The man convicted of killing two men and stuffing their bodies into barrels behind his mobile home in Bloomington was sentenced Thursday.

Jerry Pelfree, age 52, was sentenced to the longest jail sentence he could receive for shooting two men in the head multiple times, then stuffing their bodies into barrels to decompose.

Monroe Circuit Judge Marc Kellams sentenced Pelfree to two consecutive 65-year jail terms.

Family members of both dead men gave impact statements during the hearing. Court recorder for Judge Kellams said the statements were emotional and that many officers were present to control any emotional, violent outbreaks.

Pelfree was noticeably unaffected when he heard his sentence, according to the court record.
