Student reports dorm break-in

Thieves broke into a student’s dorm room and stole several items from the student as he slept, said Lt. Craig Munroe of the IU Police Department, reading from a police report.

IU police were called to the second floor of Read Residence Center on Friday morning, Munroe said.

The student said two men broke into his locked room while he slept and stole a Hollister bag with three Hollister T-shirts inside, an Xbox, an HP laptop, an iPhone, a pair of Kobe Bryant basketball shoes, a credit card and a student ID, Munroe said.

The student said he woke up at about 4:45 a.m. and saw two  males leaving the room with his belongings.

The student said one of the men wore a brown leather jacket and a black, white and gold fitted hat with a white “A” on it. The other man wore a white T-shirt, Munroe said.

The student viewed a security recording and identified the two men on the stairwell with the stolen items, Munroe said.
