Food inspectors find violations at Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. — State health inspectors found violations at 11 of 14 cafes and food courts on the Ball State University campus during inspections that were the first for some establishments in nearly six years.

University officials called the state Department of Health after discovering that it was not doing its own inspections as often as recommended.

State inspectors found food stored at improper temperatures, among other violations. Most of the violations were corrected on the spot.

Two residence halls went nearly six years without a food inspection. They should be inspected two to three times a year.

Ball State spokesman Tony Proudfoot says the school is training an employee to do the inspections.
