Village Pantry robbed Wednesday

Store employee attacked by four assailants

The Village Pantry convenience store located at 275 E. Winslow Road was robbed Wednesday morning.

A 53-year-old male employee was working in the back of the store preparing sandwiches when four subjects entered the store at 2:34 a.m. Police think the group consisted of three males and one female.

All suspects were wearing sweatshirts, gloves and masks, making it hard to identify them, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Jeff Canada said, reading from a police report.
Upon entering the store, the suspects disabled the video surveillance system.

At least one suspect had a gun. They pushed the victim to the ground behind the counter in the back of the store.

The victim told police he was beaten in the chest, but was not able to tell if he was hit with a gun.

The suspects forced the employee to open the cash register drawer where they took a small amount of cash, Canada said.

Police said they are reviewing the surveillance video in order to find the attackers.

Police are asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to contact Detective Rob Shrake at 349-3352.
