Time has come to invest in the future

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act – doesn’t that have a nice ring to it? It just sounds like it will pave the way in solving the problems our country faces right now. It very well could, if the Senate adds the appropriate provisions.

The Senate’s decisions for the added provisions to this bill are crucial in determining America’s future. The nation could become a leader in alternative energy and begin to break our dependence on fossil fuels by investing in wind and solar energy. This would also increase the number of jobs available as new energy plants would be created, which would help stimulate the economy.

We could compete with other sophisticated nations by creating a more efficient mass transit system. It’s ridiculous that taking a train from Chicago to Indianapolis takes five to six hours when one could just as easily drive there in the same time frame or less!

President Barack Obama inspired millions of Americans with his campaign, and they entrusted him with the duty of leading us toward a better and stronger America. The Senate should jump on board with his vision and help make his dream a reality.
The time is now, and our future depends on it.
