The 10th annual Indiana Latino Leadership Conference will be held Feb. 28 at IU-Purdue University Indianapolis.
The student-organized conference is hosted by IU, Ivy Tech Community College and IUPUI. Both Latino and non-Latino students in high school and college can attend the statewide conference.
The theme of the conference is “Sleeping Giant? From Invisible to Invincible” and honors past Latino leaders from different fields of work who made their voices heard during immigration law protests.
Twelve workshops will be offered at the event. The conference provides resources for students including how to apply to and pay for college.
High school students will be able to network with college students, and college students will be able to network with several businesses attending the conference, said Jennifer Rios, an IU Latino Leadership Conference committee member.
Indiana college representatives will also be able to answer questions from students. In addition, there will be a keynote speaker and entertainment.
Rios said students who need transportation to the conference should register to travel to IUPUI by van at La Casa Latino Cultural Center.
More than 500 students attended last year’s conference, according to an IU press release. The conference committee said it hopes to exceed that number this year.
