Sixteen professors participated in IU’s third annual “Pie a Professor,” an event sponsored by IU’s Civic Leadership Development to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The event took place in the Kelley School of Business. $1 raffle tickets were available for purchase to determine who got to throw a pie, and participants had the option of purchasing a $10 T-shirt in exchange for 10 raffle tickets.
Joanna Stebbins, associate development director for Big Brothers Big Sisters, said in a Tuesday Indiana Daily Student article that Big Brothers Big Sisters’ goal was to raise $40,000, but this number includes money from other fundraisers taking place around campus, such as Bowl For Kid’s Sake, which took place last weekend.
School of Public and Environmental Affairs professor Steven Kreft was one of the professors participating. In Tuesday’s IDS, Kreft said he has been “very impressed” with the group of students involved in Civic Leadership Development.
His plan for Tuesday’s event was to “sit back and enjoy the ride.”
