Don't tax the chump change

I know it’s college, and I know that many people stumble across the Democratic Party because it’s the “thing to do.”

But I also know that a good percentage of our students come from affluent families who, even though they might not know it, are going to be hurt by this change in government. The economy is bad enough as it is, and one big reason behind that is there are too many people not pulling their weight in our economy.

The fact is, most people that come from nothing stay that way. I know it’s an unfortunate problem, but I know that I have worked with people from all walks of life over the summer, and it is a sad fact of life.

Obama’s economic plan is going to benefit people who don’t have jobs. The government is going to take money I have earned and give it to someone who is not pulling their weight in life.

Plenty of us are blessed here at Indiana University, and it’s time that we started sharing our gifts with other people. Hopefully President Obama will spark a great change throughout our nation, but many people make promises they cannot keep.

People abroad love what he is doing for our country, but if you love the fact that your parents pay for you to go to school, then President Obama is probably not who you should have voted
for.

Obama has tax plans that will hurt people making over $250,000 a year. To some parents of students that go to IU, that’s chump change. Many people who are well-off help those in need, but that doesn’t require being forced by the government to give money to those who haven’t earned it.

The economy is in shambles, but all I know is that Barack Obama hired Fannie Mae’s economic advisors. I hope Obama inspires positive change throughout America, but those of you running around thinking he’s going to change the world overnight need to wake up.
