Can someone please tell me why? Why has there been minimal coverage of Gov. Sarah Palin’s ties to the Alaska Independence Party – a party whose members consider themselves Alaskans before Americans and have openly avowed to secede from the United States? The Republicans have certainly wasted no time in painting the image of Barack Obama and Bill Ayers as long-time domestic terrorist buddies.
I’m sure you’ve heard it a thousand times already: Sen. Barack Obama and his “long-standing” ties to unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers. Of course you have, it’s every neo-conservative’s dream. It’s the latest crack of the McCain campaign to paint Obama as an unpatriotic radical with intent to deracinate American democracy and obliterate our nation’s values. Barack Obama: Terrorism we can believe in.
I think it should be mentioned that while Ayers and his Weatherman Underground were targeting government monuments in protest of the Vietnam War, Sen. Obama was 8 years old. It wasn’t until 40 years later while serving on the board of the Woods Fund of Chicago, an anti-poverty fund, did they cross paths.
Ayers, now a college professor at the University of Illinois, happened to live in the same suburb of Chicago while both he and Obama were advocating for education reform. Obama has openly condemned the actions of the Weather Underground and any attempts to connect Obama with events that took place 40 years ago is absolutely ridiculous.
But where has the coverage of Palin and the Alaska Independence Party been? Now this is news! The Alaska Independence Party is an anti-government militia movement that started in the early 1990s. Party founder Joe Vogler has openly stated “I am an Alaskan, I’m not an American. I’ve got no use for America or her damned institutions.”
During a recent interview Max Blumenthal conducted with former AIP chair Mark Chryson and secretary Steve Stoll, we have learned of Palin’s connections to the party. Steve Stoll, nicknamed “Black Helicopter Steve,” is rumored to have buried several high-powered automatic weapons in his front yard in the event the federal government ushers in a new world order. Like those crazy relatives we all have, these people are paranoid, despise the federal government and believe the federal government is responsible for all the problems that have befallen them.
So where does Palin fit into all of this? When Palin started her political career in the early 1990s, the AIP helped organize her campaign against incumbent John Stein.
Once elected, Palin appointed Black Helicopter Steve to the city council seat she vacated. The AIP claim it has an open-door policy with Palin able to stop in at any time to discuss the party’s future. It should also be noted that Palin’s husband, Todd Palin, was once a member of the AIP.
So where’s the coverage? Come on all you field-dressing hockey moms! Is it possible that your gun-toting Barbie doll meets and converses with anti-America militia? Yeah, you’re right: Obama being a black “Muslim” terrorist sounds better. McCain-Palin ’08!
Where’s the coverage?
