The Concert Orchestra will perform at 8 p.m. today as part of the Live and Free at the MAC schedule.
The Jazz Ensemble, which played Monday, was directed by Distinguished Professor and Jazz Studies Chair David Baker. It played Baker’s own “Maba Tila,” Bud Powell’s “Tempus Fugit,” William Russo’s “Frank Speaking” and Oliver Nelson’s “Black, Brown and Beautiful,” to name a few.
Bringing romance to the stage, the Concert Orchestra will be directed by Israeli guest conductor Uriel Segal, and the orchestra will play Sergei Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet: Excerpts from ‘Suites No. 1 and No. 2, Op. 64’” and Robert Schumann’s “Symphony No. 2 in C Major, Op. 61.”
