2 men arrested for break-ins in library parking lot

IU police arrested two men outside the Wells Library Friday night in connection with the break-in of four vehicles.

Bloomington residents Anthony Flanders, 29, and Charles Starks III, 26, were booked into the Monroe County Jail on preliminary charges of felony theft and criminal mischief.

The two men were "throwing their bodies" against cars, trying to break in, according to a press release from IU Police Department Capt. Jerry Minger. Witnesses observed the men using their elbows to knock out some side windows of the vehicles.

The cars damaged included a brown Ford Taurus, a red Chevy S10 truck, a black Ford Mustang and a red Ford Mustang.

If anyone has more information regarding these incidents or if they have been the victim of a similar vandalism, IUPD asks them to call 855-4111.
