The Indiana State Excise Police issued 79 tickets this weekend during the IU football game.
That number is down by 23 tickets compared to last weekend’s football game against Ball State University.
Indiana State Excise Police officer Travis Thickstun said he thinks the number of tickets issued went down because of the time of the game. This weekend the football game began at noon as opposed to last weekend’s evening game.
“You have people come out, but they are not out for that long,” Thickstun said.
Two of the people who were given tickets this weekend were taken to the Monroe County Jail immediately.
One female was taken to the jail because she appeared to be “highly” intoxicated, Thickstun said. A male was taken to the Monroe County Jail because he was resisting arrest. While trying to arrest the male, an officer slightly injured his arm.
Both of the people who were taken to jail were 20-year-olds, Thickstun said. Usually people only get issued tickets and have to later appear in court, but in circumstances such as these they have to be taken to jail.
Of the 79 tickets given out, 73 were issued to minors for the illegal possession or consumption of alcohol.
