Provost names new Honors College dean

IU Provost and former Hutton Honors College Dean Karen Hanson has named a new dean to the Hutton Honors College today, according to an IU news release.

The appointment must still be officially approved by the board of trustees later this month, but School of Public and Environmental Affairs professor Matthew Auer will take interim dean Jean Robinson's position. Robinson will become the College of Arts and Sciences' associate dean for undergraduate education, according to the news release.

Auer received his undergraduate degree in biological anthropology from Harvard, an master's in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and a doctoral degree in Forestry and Environmental Studies from Yale, according to the news release.

Hanson was dean of the Honors College from 2002 until last summer, when she was appointed as provost for the University.
