Campus officials are saying the incoming freshman class will be IU’s largest and most academically talented ever, and one of its most diverse.
Although final numbers won’t be available for a few weeks, this year’s class will top last year’s record of 7,259 students. Average SAT scores are highter, and the number of minority and international students have also increased, according to an IU press release. The incoming class will also include one of the largest groups of first-year students from Indiana ever to enroll at IU.
Because of the record enrollment, an estimated 100 students will have to live in residence hall lounges. This will be the third time in the last nine years Residential Programs and Services has had to temporarily place students in residence hall lounges, said Pat Connor, RPS executive director.
Move-in day is Aug. 27.
