Excise police arrest 2 minors, cite 4 area establishments

Indiana State Excise Police officers inspected several area establishments Saturday, citing four in Bloomington for violations and arresting two minors.
Uncle Fester’s House of Blooze and Fester’s Jungle Room, the Upstairs Pub, the Alley Bar and Bluebird Nightclub were all cited for not having minimum food service. Under Indiana state law, an establishment selling alcohol by the drink must also provide some form of food service for at least 25 people. This minimum service constitutes “hot soups, hot sandwiches, coffee, milk and soft drinks,” according to the Indiana State Excise Police Web site.
The Bluebird was also cited for allowing a minor to loiter, an employee working without an alcoholic beverage permit and no record of an employee permit. Officers also arrested a minor in the Bluebird for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage and minor in a tavern.
Officers also arrested a minor at the Irish Lion for illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage and possession of false identification. The Irish Lion was not cited for any violations.
