The Riley Children’s Foundation received a $1.75 million grant today from Lilly Endowment, Inc. for repairs and construction at Camp Riley for Youth with Physical Disabilities, according to an IU news release.
The facility, which is located at IU’s Bradford Woods, will receive a new Lilly Therapeutic Riding Center, according to the news release. The center will include an arena, classrooms, observation area and a therapy room. Three model “green” cabins will also be built, and the Lilly Amphitheatre, where campers can gather, will be repaired. Window, roof, door and ventilation systems will be repaired in 14 cabins, according to the news release.
Camp Riley for Youth with Physical Disabilities was founded in 1955 and works to provide a traditional camp experience for children with physical disabilities, according to the news release. Along with the camp, the Riley Children’s Foundation sponsors the Riley Children’s Hospital and the James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home, according to the news release.
