MARTINSVILLE, Ind. – Martinsville’s city engineer says the cost of repairing flood-damaged city property is expected to exceed $1.6 million.
Ross Holloway says the most expensive repair will be the removal of sand from the city’s storm-sewer system. That cost is estimated at $500,000.
He told the city council on Monday that two of 19 repair projects have been completed, including the replacement of two water mains. One main that runs underneath a creek cost $60,000 to replace.
The city is seeking Federal Emergency Management Agency funding to pick up about 75 percent of the cost.
