Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels reappointed trustees William Cast and Tom Reilly Jr. to another three-year term on the IU board of trustees July 3, according to a state government news release.
Daniels first appointed Cast and Reilly as trustees in 2005, according to the news release. Trustee Patrick Shoulders was also recently re-elected to his position by alumni after being appointed in 2002.
IU Spokesman Larry MacIntyre said IU President Michael McRobbie was pleased to hear Cast, Reilly and Shoulders will all serve on the board for another three years.
“He’s delighted with the board of trustees this year,” he said. “They all have a close working relationship.”
Cast earned his undergraduate degree from IU in 1958 and graduated from the IU School of Medicine in 1962, according to the release. He founded DuPont Hospital in Fort Wayne and has worked as a private practitioner with Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists since 1969, according to the release.
Reilly earned his undergraduate at Stanford University and his MBA at Harvard Business School, according to an IU news release. He served as a chair on the Committee of Higher Education of the Indiana Government Efficiency Commission and a chair on Butler University’s board of trustees, according to the news release.
Cast and Reilly were the only two members of the IU board of trustees whose terms were supposed to end this year, making them eligible for re-appointment. The Indiana governor is responsible for appointing six of the nine board members, including a student trustee, while three board members are elected by IU alumni, according to the news release.
