Usher is back on top of the priority list of many R&B and hip-hop heads all across the country. Aside from lending his voice to a few grace singles by Lil’ Jon and R. Kelly, it’s been nearly four years since we’ve heard any new material from Usher. But the undisputed King of R&B assures us with his newest album Here I Stand that it was well worth the wait.
Usher claims to have "grown-up" on this album, but if you’re expecting strong evidence of that growth, you might be disappointed. Though, he does make the transition from lustful songs in the first half of the album to songs that display a classier feel on its latter half. If you’re expecting to hear smooth R&B with Usher’s signature musical charisma and smooth voice, you will be very pleased.
Here I Stand
Usher hits a home run with the already popular "Love In This Club Part II." The song contains guest appearances by Beyonce’ and Lil’ Wayne. He couldn’t possibly go wrong with that one. Other guest appearances include Jay-Z on "Best Thing," Will.i.am on the funky dance track "What’s Your Name," and Young Jeezy on the hit single "Love In This Club."
Overall, Here I Stand is a great album and will be one of the best of the year. While it is not Confessions, I still suggest you run out and get this one.
