Boxes, moving trucks and chaos - this will most likely be the scene at the residence halls on Saturday, when all Residential Programs and Services residence halls close at 10 a.m. Students should remember to properly check out to avoid damage charges, cleaning charges and other additional fees, according to the RPS Web site.\nStudents who are taking summer classes had the opportunity to sign up for summer housing in Ashton Center.\nBob Weith, director of residential operations, said he thought the year went well.\n“It’s been a very good year, excellent professional staff and the residents have responded well,” he said. \nNext year, RPS will implement a new policy that will prohibit empty alcohol bottles in the residence halls, Weith said.\n“We’re enthused about the new policy,” he said. “Other universities have done it successfully and it shows we are concerned about the connection between college students and drinking.” \nHowever, RPS is also doing major renovations on several of the residence halls over the summer months, Weith said. \nWith new rules and renovations, incoming freshmen and returning residents will have a new living standard and guidelines. Asstudents bustle out of their dorms, though, the next school year is far from their minds. \nFreshman Nick Marcum is a Wright Quad resident who said he won’t miss much about the dorms.\n“I won’t miss the (resident assistants),” he said. “But I will miss the food court selection.” \nFreshman and Teter Quad resident Chad Plaia said he also won’t miss the RAs or restrictions.\n“I will miss having a bunch of people the same age so close though,” he said. \nSophomore Brittney Feldman no longer lives in the residence halls, but said there are a few things she misses.\n“I miss having everybody so close and leaving the door open to have people just stop in,” she said. \nWeith said he thinks the move-out of students from residence halls on Saturday should go smoothly.\n“We had great occupancy this year,” he said. “We’ve had a great year and if everyone is ready to move out by 10 a.m. then it will definitely be great.”
