Golfers looking to find a place to compete can come to the call-out meeting for the Student Golf League at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Kelley School of Business, room 732. The meeting is open to all interested students.\n“I am excited for the meeting,” said junior Kyle Falk. “We are looking to get started right after Little 500.”\nThe club will try to meet twice a week to play, Falk said. The club will meet on Mondays and Fridays.\nThis Student Golf League is suited for any type of player, regardless of experience level, said sophomore Preston Linville.\n“If you are a serious golfer, then you are able to compete against other serious golfers,” Linville said. “There will also be a beginner’s clinic. This Student League allows you to play other students from IU.”\nThe club hopes to play against other universities with similar organizations. Purdue is a local school that already has a \ngolf club.\n“We are going to try and set up matches with other Big Ten schools,” said junior and Director of Promotions for the Golf Club Kim Cullman. “We hope to be able to play against schools like Purdue, Illinois or Ohio State. These would be schools that are a relatively close trip.”\nThe league will play until the end of the school year and then start back up in the fall. The club is going to try and get its members a discount at the IU Golf Course. The discount will allow students to play for even less than the current fee of $14 during the week and $16 on the weekend. This will be a good way to meet new people and network, Linville said. For many, the biggest draw is the ability to get to compete in golf again. \n“I came to IU knowing I wasn’t going to able to compete unless I played a varsity sport,” Linville said. “Until now, there was no other way for me \nto compete.”\nFalk said he is excited for the Student Golf League because it’s something for which he has been waiting a long time.\n“I played in high school and tried to help start a league up my freshman and sophomore years here,” Falk said.\nNow he will get his chance to play.
