Take to the streets!

One has to wonder whether the Democrats are better than the Republicans regarding the Iraq War and the so-called War on Terrorism. Both Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama voted to fund the war. It is criminal that they did not even threaten to cut off funding in order to stop the war, which is opposed by the majority of the American population. Why aren’t these two senators leading the charge to censure or impeach the criminal Bush administration? The Democratic primary is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury signifying nothing. Let’s contrast this by citing history. During the Clinton administration’s misguided 1999 nation-building bombing campaign against Serbia, the Republicans threatened to pull the plug on this misadventure whose effects still linger and fester today. If the Bush administration is full of war criminals, what does that make the Democrats?\nWe at Indiana Students Against War believe that we must not trust the Democrats to do the right thing when it comes to fulfilling the will of the people. It is imperative that we build a mass movement in the streets to oppose the war and compel our politicians to act democratically. Their inaction is criminal. We as students and concerned community members must continue to speak out against this war, which is costing us thousands of Iraqi, Afghan and American lives, as well as our future, because this war is costing us more than $5 billion a month. This money should go to the much needed task of helping ordinary Americans in this time of economic turmoil instead of the pockets of companies such as Halliburton and the Blackwater mercenary company. The American government must pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan (which has simply become a mass producer of heroin under American/NATO occupation) completely and immediately. Empires are corrupt and immoral because they tend to overextend and use their subjects as cannon fodder in misadventures for the rich. We need a more democratic government which is receptive to our needs. Democracy and justice are built in the streets! We must continue to build up this anti-war movement against imperialism!
