Man dies at Wabash insulation plant

WABASH — An insulation manufacturer has temporarily closed its plant as authorities try to determine how a worker who died from carbon monoxide poisoning inhaled the deadly gas.\nTerry D. Walk, 58, was found near death Thursday at Thermafiber LLC’s Wabash plant. He was later pronounced dead at Wabash County Hospital, where an autopsy found that he died of carbon monoxide poisoning.\nPolice said Walk was found on the third floor of the plant’s baghouse building, where he had apparently gone alone to take care of a maintenance job.\nThe plant, located about 75 miles north of Indianapolis, was closed Friday. The Indiana Office of Safety and Health Administration is investigating how Walk inhaled the poisonous, odorless gas.\nIndiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration Deputy Director Jeff Carter said it could be several weeks before a final report is ready on Walk’s death.
