Fire Greenspan now

As a graduate of IU, I would like to give my opinion on the most recent incidents at IU with regard to men’s basketball. I would like to get a movement started to remove the athletic director and any individuals responsible for establishing a hiring committee for a head basketball coach at IU prior to the end of the season. The players and coaching staff as well as alumni, student body, university employees, etc. deserve more than the effort shown by Mr. Greenspan and his staff. This action demoralized a team already in turmoil and should not be accepted. We already saw the brilliant decision that was made to bring Kelvin Sampson here in the first place (without putting incredible restrictions on Sampson with regard to recruiting). Greenspan knew about the allegations at Oklahoma and hired him anyway. I believe that Coach Sampson is a great basketball coach; however it should have been made clear that he is of no help by breaking the rules. Mr. Greenspan needs to understand that messing with IU football, baseball, etc. is one thing, but no one is to mess with the integrity and tradition of IU men’s basketball. Did his actions of selecting a hiring task force before the tournament bother the players and coaching staff? I will leave that up to the players and coaching staff. As alumni, all we get to see is a first-round loss by a team with Final Four talent. I’m embarrassed by your actions, Mr. Greenspan. And you should be fired. How about selecting a new task force to find a new athletic director?
