If the cream and crimson look like they’ve bled together on IU’s uniforms Sunday, it will be because they did. The IU women’s basketball team will wear pink uniforms in their weekend match-up with Michigan. The effort is in a show of solidarity with other women’s basketball programs around the country in an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer. \nThe “Think Pink” campaign – as it is known – has swept across college basketball, with national powerhouses like Rutgers, Tennessee and UConn leading the effort. The Volunteers’ highly-touted contest with Rutgers on Monday night was but one example, as the Scarlet Knights donned pink jerseys instead of their traditional red. \nIU coach Felisha Legette-Jack said she and her team are “honored” to participate in the program and that there is no limit to how beneficial such efforts can be in her eyes.\n“I say let’s do it all season,” Legette-Jack said after practice Wednesday.\nThis is not the first charitable cause the Hoosiers have taken up this year. Legette-Jack and her team have involved themselves in several projects giving back to the community, including trips to the Shalom House and work with local children’s groups like Girls, Inc. \nIn fact, for Sunday’s event, IU will team with Girls Scouts of Tulip Trace Council, the IU Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department and Campus Recreational Sports to bring the program to Assembly Hall. \n“We’ve been doing that all season, and this is just another cause that we’re proud to be a part of,” Legette-Jack said.\nFans are encouraged to wear pink to the game, and the first 1,000 people through the doors will receive a pink pom pom, according to an IU Athletics media release.\nLegette-Jack said she plans to wear a pink shirt Sunday in support of the afternoon’s overall theme.\n“What goes with that, I don’t know,” she laughed. “My heart is going to be filled with pink. That’s all that matters.”
