‘Examining the Evidence: A Serious Look at God’ begins Monday

Ash Wednesday is this week, and Adventist Students for Christ wants to give students the opportunity to take a “serious look at God” in nightly lectures Monday \nthrough Saturday.\nIn “Examining the Evidence: A Serious Look at God,” the club will sponsor different lecture topics each night of the week in various locations \non campus. \n“This is giving the campus a chance to get to know us – the Christian faith,” said Abigail Koo, president of Adventist Students \nfor Christ.\nKoo added that she wanted to provide this kind of opportunity in a casual setting to increase the educational feel of the program. Kellen Hubert, director of IU Student Association Assisted Inter-organizational Development, said the week-long program consists of discussions related to religion. Instead of trying to convert people to a religion, he said, Adventist Students for Christ wants to educate them. The program involves examining different topics to help students make their\nown decisions. \n“IU is a special place full of diversity – not only people, but also beliefs and values,”\nHubert said. \n“Examining the Evidence” is partially sponsored through IUSA-AID. Hubert said this is the first year the AID office has opened up funding to religious events. AID provides funding to help registered student groups on campus through an \napplication process. \nThe program begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Whittenberger Auditorium in the Indiana Memorial Union with a lecture titled “Wanna Bet Your Life?” Other topics throughout the week include “Does God exist?” “Has God Spoken?” “Is He a Liar?” “Is Evolution a Religion?” and “Did God Create?” Each lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public. \nFor more information, students can visit the Adventist Students for Christ Web site at www.indiana.edu/~asforc.
